Mystery Diner Review - Dugout Bar and Grill

“It’s sort of like Cheers, where everyone knows your name” was the response a patron gave, when I asked her if she came to the Dugout very often. She went on to talk about the friendliness of the wait staff and the patrons. Since moving into the area, The Dugout has become one of her favorite places to grab a beer and great food.

Indeed, I found that the food is abundant and tasty. The cheeseburger lives up to the reviews my twenty-something friends have given me. I knew after my first bite that it would become on of my favorite burgers, too. The meat was juicy, the cheese plentiful and the tomato, lettuce, onion and pickles filled my hands with flavorsome salad. I was pleased and surprised by the mound of crisp, hot onion rings that accompanied the burger. There were more than enough to share with 3-4 others.

My date had a similar experience when ordering the finger-steaks. The basket was overflowing with crunchy fries that popped when you bit into them and seasoned batter-dipped tender finger steaks that melted in your mouth. We ate and ate, but barely made a dent in the feast.

Friendly people started conversations with us as they walked by and the feeling of community was prevalent among the patrons. The multiple screens invite watching games or races from every direction and there were no “bad seats”. I think it would be a great place to go to enjoy sporting events with a crowd, since everyone seemed friendly and the Dugout’s atmosphere is welcoming. I hear they have Karaoke on Thursday and Friday nights, I’ll bet no one would laugh if I sang. What a fun place!
