Home cooked, full flavored, and spicy is the Sage Port''''s specialty. We are unapologetic about the time it takes to cook the food and ensure you it will be worth the wait. Sick of ''''trans fat free'''' and ''''heart smart''''? Head to Sage Port.

Started in 1993 by the Barrett family, the place has become a staple for locals looking to get their grease on. George Barrett liked his time in the navy and loved his motorcycles. Harley and navy items line the interior of the joint and many are personal. On one table, George''''s request for shore leave includes the note ''''...may go on leave when he gets a haircut.''''

Breakfast and lunch are the only options - close at 3. Beakfast is a righteous combination of standard breakfast items. Like spuds? Forget frozen - it''''s all fresh. Everything is full of flavor.

Lunch is a mashup of burgers, sandwiches, and fried items. French fries are hand-cut or beer battered. Speaking of the fries, the hand-cut are very similar to the ones you make at home - somewhat soft, full of flavor and oil. No blanching or other McTrickery here - just a lonely spud doing battle with a bath of oil. Our halibut fish and chips - beer battered on the spot. Everything will make you want to go to the gym, but its worth it.

Definitely a local original and a great way to enjoy a leisurely lunch or breakfast. Breakfast can be crowded on weekends, so plan ahead. Don''''t sweat the after-church rush - they are at Denny''''s.

I was told by a few friends to give Sage Port Grill a try and I am glad I listened and went with a couple of them. The environment is classic, the beer battered fries were amazing and the cheesesteak was perfect! I will be back.

If you want to get an idea what the Tri Cities was probably like in 1940 ... you got to have breakfast or lunch at the Sage Port Grill. You will wait for the kitchen to prepare your food, it doesn't matter. You can kill your time having a tomato beer waiting for breakfast or a beer waiting for lunch and check out the various artifacts on the walls...... and most of all ......checking out the mix bag of clientel from old Harley bikers, boaters, religious families, republicans and democates ... it's all there... oh, the food is above average for breakfast, I never eaten there for lunch and I am not sure if they serve dinner. See you there on Sunday mornings.
